Anatol taught me drawing, watercolor and oil painting during my final year of high school, allowing me to prepare a fiercely competitive portfolio that would win several competitions and gain me admission to many top tier undergraduate architecture programs. His training was not only transformative for my technique in the arts but foundational to my success throughout USC’s rigorous architecture program and later at Harvard Graduate School of Design. To this day, a decade later, Anatol’s lessons impact me as a practicing architect as I draw and design in high-pressure and high-stakes environments. Anatol continues to rank among the top 3 instructors I’ve ever worked with, and has my highest gratitude and recommendation.

I took private art lessons with Anatol Woolf for 5 years from middle school through high school. He helped me develop and enrich my art skills through various mediums, such as pencil, colored pencil, water color, oil, and sculpture. Anatol played a pivotal role in helping me build my art portfolio to use to apply to architecture programs, where I was accepted early decision to Cornell University. In the beginning of my time working with Anatol, he took a more “hands-on” approach in teaching me, but he would still give me time to work through difficult problems alone before he stepped in. By the end of my 5 years with him, I was working completely independently, only using his aid when it was absolutely necessary. I recommend anyone of all skill levels to work with Anatol! He is an incredible artist and art teacher!

Anatol Woolf is talented and professional art teacher. I attended one-on-one classes with Anatol the year after graduating from undergrad. I received a minor in art and wanted to take lessons from Anatol in classical techniques. I loved his instruction and tips. The studio was clean, bright, and comfortable. His instructions were clear and logical. Ultimately, I used my completed projects to apply to MICA’s Post-Bacc program and was accepted. Anatol helped me achieve my dream of attending MICA and I am forever grateful. I highly recommend him for all levels of artists seeking to grow in knowledge and skill.

We would characterize Anatol’s teaching approach as project-based learning, outcome oriented, supportive and encouraging. Anatol’s teaching philosophy provides stepping stones from basics toward complexity. Great art teacher!!
